Key Storylines
Miami (OH) got off to a positive start in MAC play. In their last game, they overcame a 14-point first-quarter hole to defeat Northern Illinois. They scored 25 unanswered points in the final three quarters to win that game. Quarterback Dequan Finn returned from injury and put up 170 passing yards, a touchdown, and 90 rushing yards. Their defense chipped in with a blocked punt for a safety and the Redhawks will try to build on that in this game.
Akron got a win in their last game, beating Central Michigan to improve to 1-1 in the MAC. The Zips’ offense is leaning heavily on running back Jordan Gant, who just earned the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week award. He had a 176-yard, one-touchdown performance in the win over Central Michigan. He has 476 rushing yards on the season and is tied for 19th nationally. Akron is undefeated in games when Gant surpasses 100 rushing yards.
Quarterback Play
Miami (OH): Dequan Finn has had an up-and-down season, completing 56.4% of his passes for 635 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions. Now that he is back on the field, the Redhawks will hope to get the best of him on the road in this contest.
Akron: Ben Finley is the starting quarterback for Akron. He has only completed half of his pass attempts so far this season, with seven touchdown passes and three interceptions. His efficiency is a concern, but Finley played well against Central Michigan last week and he will try to build on that in this game.

But I am going to take the points with Akron in this matchup, as I liked what I saw from Finley last week against Central Michigan. He should be solid at quarterback again this week to help make this a competitive contest.
