Key Storylines
- Momentum vs desperation: Carolina enters riding a two-game winning streak and has worked their way back to 3-3 on the season. New York is 0–6 and desperate for a breakthrough.
- Run game mismatch: The Panthers’ Rico Dowdle has been operating at elite levels over the last couple of weeks. Carolina may lean into its ground game to make things easier on Bryce Young. The Jets have a running back in Breece Hall who is averaging under 80 yards per game and getting more out of him would be huge for New York.
- Injury and uncertainty in passing games: The Jets’ Garrett Wilson is recovering from a knee hyperextension and is listed as doubtful. That leaves Justin Fields with a weakened receiving corps. Carolina’s Bryce Young has had his share of ups and downs, but his connection with Tetairoa McMillan has continued to improve of late.

Carolina’s Bryce Young: Young has 1,150 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and five interceptions so far. He also brings an ability to run when needed. Against the Jets, he is projected to throw for around 200 yards with roughly one touchdown. His ability to avoid mistakes and keep drives alive will be critical if the Panthers want to get their first road win of the year.
New York’s Justin Fields: Fields has had a rough stretch lately, including a game in London with –10 net passing yards. He’s been under heavy pressure and plagued by protection breakdowns. With Wilson possibly out or limited, his weapons are limited, and his margin for error is slim.
