NBA Southwest Division Odds
Odds for this division are off the board, as the San Antonio Spurs have clinched the division for the 2025-26 season.
San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have built a title contender in the Western Conference and are the winners of the Southwest Division this season. Victor Wembanyama is a matchup nightmare for just about everyone in the NBA, thanks to his combination of size, quickness, and ability to score at all three levels. San Antonio has put some solid pieces around Wemby, and the Spurs look like they might have the best chance to topple Oklahoma City in the Western Conference this year.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets made a big move in the offseason by bringing in Kevin Durant. That move has paid off nicely, as Durant and the Rockets are in contention for a top-six spot in the Western Conference. The Rockets have to settle for second place in this division behind San Antonio. But it is still entirely possible that the Rockets make a late charge and make a deep playoff run, thanks to their elite offensive weapons and their tenacity on defense under Ime Udoka.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have failed to get off the ground during the 2025-26 NBA season. Number one overall pick Cooper Flagg has looked very good as this season has gone on. But injuries to players like Flagg, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis have prevented the Mavericks from winning all that many games. Dallas opted to trade Davis to the Washington Wizards, signaling that they have thrown in the towel on trying to contend this season. The rest of this year might not be as interesting as what the Mavs decide to do with their roster in the future around Flagg.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies have once again been an underwhelming team in the Southwest Division this season. Ja Morant has missed a ton of time this year, while removing Desmond Bane from their roster hasn’t led to any meaningful improvements. The Grizzlies were also trade deadline sellers, moving Jaren Jackson Jr. to Utah, of all places, while injuries have decimated the remaining roster. The Grizzlies are at a crossroads here, as they need to rebuild, but might not be able to move on from Morant while getting much value in return for him.
New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans looked like one of the worst teams in the NBA in the early stages of this season. But they have at least shown some fight in the second-half of the season. Zion Williamson has been able to play for parts of the year and has been incredibly efficient when on the floor. If the Pelicans can stay healthy, they could have more success next season, but this year is one where it is too late for them to recover and contend for a playoff berth.
