- Momentum shift under new coaching: Virginia Tech replaced Brent Pry after an 0–3 start, elevating Phillip Montgomery to interim head coach. The Hokies have responded with back-to-back wins over Wofford and NC State. Their rushing attack exploded in that game against the Wolfpack and the Hokies’ confidence is growing.
- Wake Forest struggling in ACC play: Wake Forest is 0-2 in ACC play coming into this week. The Demon Deacons opened their season with non-conference wins against Kennesaw State and FCS Western Carolina. But they have lost to Georgia Tech and NC State and could really use a conference win.
