- Bruins Look For Repeat Performance: Last week, UCLA stunned Penn State, grabbing one of the biggest upsets of the college football season. That performance has energized the program. But they will now have to prove that it wasn’t a fluke as they try to get a second straight win this week.
- Michigan State Looks to Rebound: The Spartans dropped a 38–27 contest to the Nebraska Cornhuskers in their last game. The Spartans have dropped two games in a row, both on the road to conference opponents. They return home here and will try to get back on track.
- Defensive mismatches: UCLA’s defense has been among the weakest in the Big Ten in yards per play allowed, especially against the run. If Michigan State leans into its ground game, that could put pressure on the Bruins throughout this game.

UCLA’s Nico Iamaleava turned heads against Penn State, throwing for 166 yards and two scores while adding 128 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. That was easily the best that Iamaleava has looked since transferring to UCLA from Tennessee. But his consistency and decision-making under duress are still question marks going into this game.
Michigan State’s Aidan Chiles has had ups and downs so far this season. In the Nebraska game, he went just 9-of-23 passing with two interceptions but did make some plays with his legs. In this battle of two inconsistent quarterbacks, Chiles will try to give his team the advantage at home.
