Key Storylines
One of the biggest storylines entering this game is the health of Atlanta Dream forward Brionna Jones. She is out because of a knee issue, and that will significantly impact Atlanta’s interior scoring and rebounding rotation early in the season. The Dream still have an elite interior presence in Angel Reese, who secured a block to close out a one-point in in Minnesota to start the season, but losing interior depth is never a good thing in this league.
Dallas also enters this matchup with confidence after putting up 107 points against Indiana. Paige Bueckers looked comfortable running the offense, while the Wings received strong production from Arike Ogunbowale on offense. Dallas struggled badly on defense throughout last season, and they looked concerning on that end of the floor in their opener as well. It will be interesting to see if they are better on defense at home here.

- Paige Bueckers: The second-year guard already looks comfortable as the focal point of the Dallas Wings offense. Her scoring ability, passing vision, and pace control give the Wings a completely different look and she will try to build on a strong start to the season here.
- Arike Ogunbowale: Ogunbowale remains the late-game scorer Dallas depends on. She stretches defenses with perimeter shooting and creates offense off the dribble. Her ability to score in bunches changes the flow of games quickly.
- Alanna Smith: Smith brings rim protection and defensive versatility after winning Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors last season. Dallas desperately needed more size and interior defense, and Smith fills that role immediately.
Atlanta Dream
- Angel Reese: Reese made an instant impact in her Dream debut with a double-double and a late defensive stop to secure the win. Her rebounding presence changes the identity of Atlanta’s frontcourt.
- Rhyne Howard: Howard remains Atlanta’s perimeter leader and top scoring threat. Her outside shooting forces defenses to extend coverage, opening lanes for teammates to score near the basket.
- Allisha Gray: Gray continues to be one of Atlanta’s most dependable two-way players. She contributes scoring, perimeter defense, and strong decision-making in close games.

Bueckers and Ogunbowale give Dallas a dangerous scoring combination, while the additions of Smith and Shepard should continue to help them as well. I’m going to take the Wings as an underdog, as they could very well win their home opener outright.
