Edmonton comes into this season with high expectations after another deep postseason run last year. Calgary just missed the playoffs last year, but Flames head coach Ryan Huska inked a two-year extension recently after a strong year overall. The Oilers have won seven of the last 10 head-to-head matchups with the Flames and will try to start their season off with a win over Calgary here.
Goaltending
Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard are back in goal for the Oilers. Skinner will likely start the season in net here, but the Oilers have a pretty evenly talented pair of goaltenders heading into the year. Calgary’s goaltender was Dustin Wolf in the majority of their games last year. He is back again this season and will try to improve on a solid .910 save percentage from a season ago.
